Research Engineer, Stanford University, US

Yifan Mai currently works at the Stanford Center for Research in Foundation Models (CRFM), where he is the lead maintainer of the open-source Holistic Evaluation of Language Models (HELM) project. This work provides a framework for benchmarking foundation models, helping researchers, developers, and users better understand the capabilities, limitations, and risks of these models.
Previously at Google, he worked on TensorFlow, TensorFlow Extended (TFX), and Apache Beam, with a focus on performance and efficiency optimisations for large-scale data processing.
At Coursera, he worked on full-stack web application development (using Play, Django, Node.js, Backbone, React, MySQL, Scalding, Cassandra, and Solr) as well as backend infrastructure (using AWS, Envoy, Datadog, Sumo Logic, ZooKeeper, Kafka, Jenkins, Puppet, Fabric, Vagrant, and Packer).
