Wei Xu is a professor at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
His research spans a wide range of topics, including distributed system design, big data, and financial technology. His current projects focus on privacy-preserving computation, data centre networking, large-scale systems for machine learning and data mining, as well as various big data applications.
Wei Xu received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010, where he was a member of the RAD Lab in the EECS Department. His doctoral advisors were Professors David Patterson and Armando Fox. His dissertation explored the analysis of free-text console logs for problem detection. Before joining Tsinghua University, he worked as a software engineer at Google for two and a half years.
